Famco Flue Liner Replacement Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Famco Flue Liner Replacement: The White Plains Owner’s Guide

If you have a Famco flue liner that’s cracked, corroded, or failed entirely, we stock Famco-compatible replacement liners and install them throughout White Plains and Westchester County. Installed replacement typically runs $1,850 to $3,600 depending on flue dimensions, liner material, and access. Most single-story homes in White Plains are done in one visit, and we carry the common sizes on the truck.

You usually find out the hard way. Either the sweep finds it during an inspection, the boiler starts drafting poorly, or you notice staining on the ceiling near the chimney. Flue liners don’t announce themselves. They fail quietly until something forces the issue.

Which Famco Models This Applies To

Famco makes flue liners in stainless steel and aluminum, sold under a few different series names over the years. The most common ones we replace in White Plains are their aluminum liners for gas appliances and their 316L stainless liners for oil or wood. The aluminum ones fail first because condensate from high-efficiency gas appliances eats through them in five to eight years.

Here’s the gotcha with Famco specifically: their liner kits sold through supply houses often used a thinner wall gauge than what Famco lists on their commercial spec sheets. If you bought the liner through a big-box or online discount channel, the wall may be 0.005 or 0.006 inches thinner than what a supply-house Famco liner of the same nominal size would be. That’s why the same model number from two different sources can have different lifespans. We match replacements by measuring the actual inner diameter and matching to the appliance’s BTU input, not by trusting the label alone.

We stock standard Famco-compatible rounds in 4-inch through 8-inch, and oval or rectangular profiles for older masonry flues that won’t accept a round liner. We also carry comparable liners from DuraFlex, HeatShield, and Gelco when an equivalent matches the job better. Level Two Chimney White Plains is an independent service provider, not a Famco dealer or affiliate, but we source the same factory-spec materials our customers’ systems were built around.

Signs Your Famco Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing

Signs Your Famco Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing
  • Staining or efflorescence on the chimney exterior. Moisture is getting through the liner or the flue path, carrying salts through the masonry. In White Plains freeze-thaw cycles, that trapped moisture spalls the brick from the inside out.
  • Flue gas smell in the living space. A cracked liner lets combustion gases find a new path. If you smell oil or gas exhaust somewhere other than the chimney cap, the liner isn’t containing what it should.
  • Visible cracking or flaking during a camera inspection. Hairline cracks in aluminum, or scaling and pitting in stainless, are early-stage failure. The camera doesn’t guess. Neither do we.
  • Pilot light or burner that keeps going out. A compromised liner changes draft. The appliance isn’t getting the air it needs, and modern gas valves shut down when that happens.
  • Increased creosote or soot accumulation between cleanings. A rough, damaged liner surface catches deposits faster than a smooth one. If your sweep intervals used to be fine at one year and now look bad at nine months, the liner surface has changed.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For White Plains homes, here’s what we quote in writing before anything starts.

  • Aluminum liner replacement (gas appliance): $1,850 to $2,600 installed
  • 316L stainless liner replacement (oil or wood): $2,800 to $3,600 installed
  • Insulated liner system (exterior chimney): $3,200 to $4,200 installed

The range moves on three things: how tall the flue is, how accessible the roof or chimney top is, and whether the existing liner comes out cleanly or fights us on the way out. Every quote names the liner material, gauge, diameter, and length. You get a written scope, a written price, and a written warranty before any work begins. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: written price before work starts, always.

Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the installation isn’t done right, we make it right. And every replacement includes a documented photo record, camera footage included, so you can see the old liner out and the new liner in.

Replacing a flue liner means working at height on a roof, disconnecting an appliance vent, and handling liner material under tension as it snakes down the flue. That’s roof work plus exhaust-gas work in one job. Falling from a roof or misrouting a flue are not risks anyone should take on a weekend.

What you can safely do: check for visible staining around the chimney chase, note any new smells near the appliance, and keep your last inspection photos to compare year over year. If you see delamination, scaling, or cracks in your Famco liner on those photos, call (914) 350-5204. We’ll bring the camera, the spec sheet, and a written price. You’ll know exactly what failed and what it costs before you decide anything.
